The 2nd Tianfu Vascular Conference (TFS 2024) was successfully held on May 17-18, 2024, in Chengdu. From the pinnacle of medical science, we foresee the future of the vascular discipline, recognizing the immense responsibility and honorable mission ahead. As members of the vascular field, we are tasked with advancing the discipline and improving diagnostic and treatment standards. In the future, we will analyze the content of TFS lectures to help you understand the most cutting-edge vascular treatment experiences.
In this conference, Professor Guo Yuanyuan’s team from Yunnan Fuwai Cardiovascular Hospital elaborated on their experiences and challenges in diagnosing and treating complications related to proximal stents in the anchor zone after TEVAR. This summary is provided for your reference.
1. Research Background and Purpose
With the widespread adoption of TEVAR technology, especially in county-level hospitals, the frequency of related complications has increased. This study delves into the management strategies for these complications, with a particular focus on retrograde type A dissection (RTAD), pseudoaneurysm rupture, localized ulcers, and intramural hematomas in the ascending aorta and aortic arch.
2. Major Findings and Clinical Significance
From November 2017 to December 2023, the research team summarized cases of TEVAR-related complications treated at their hospital and others. They found that retrograde dissections and pseudoaneurysms often required open surgery. The team discussed successful rescue cases and the surgical strategies employed.
3. Risk Factors and Prevention Strategies
The study identified that hyperacute/acute phase TEVAR and improper postoperative blood pressure management were major risk factors. The article emphasizes that optimizing surgical techniques and postoperative management can significantly reduce these complications.
4. Summary and Outlook
Professor Guo Yuanyuan’s team’s research provides valuable experience in managing TEVAR complications, indicating continuous progress in minimally invasive cardiovascular surgery. The findings suggest that standardized procedures and precise risk management are key to improving patient survival rates and quality of life.
