The European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) previously published clinical practice guidelines for patients with abdominal main-iliac artery aneurysms in 2011 and 2019, with the aim of helping physicians and patients to choose the best treatment strategy. On January 23, 2024, the ESVS published the latest version of its clinical practice guideline for the treatment of abdominal main-iliac artery aneurysms [1], which is based on scientific evidence and expert opinion, by summarizing and evaluating the best available evidence to develop recommendations for patient assessment and treatment. These recommendations are graded according to the modified European Society of Cardiology grading system, in which the strength of each recommendation is graded according to I to III (Table 1) and the level of evidence is graded according to A to C (Table 2). The new ESVS Clinical Practice Guidelines provide clinicians and patients with the most comprehensive, up-to-date, and unbiased recommendations for the management of abdominal main-iliac artery aneurysms.
