Prof. Hui Zhuang and his team at the Affiliated Hospital of Cardiovascular Diseases of Xiamen University successfully performed thrombus removal surgery for two patients with lower extremity deep vein thrombosis by using a deep vein thrombolysis stent in combination with a suction catheter. Immediately after the surgery, imaging showed that the target lesion was unobstructed, and a large number of acute and subacute thrombi were removed, which made the surgery a success. This is the first batch of Fovene™ lower extremity DVT device registered in Fujian.

Case 1

1. Female, 75 years old

2. Complaint: left lower extremity swelling for more than 10 days

3. Imaging: diffuse filling defects in the left external iliac vein, femoral vein, popliteal vein, and left iliac vein with iliac vein compression syndrome.

4. Diagnosis: deep vein thrombosis of the left lower limb.

Case 1 preoperative imaging

Surgical Procedure

Filters were placed preoperatively, and the Fovene™ thrombus removal device was accessed via the tibial vein to perform a thrombus extraction operation, removing a large amount of old thrombus with a blood loss of <60 ml, and a venous stent was implanted postoperatively.

2. Complaint: Swelling of the right lower limb for more than a week

3. Imaging: Diffuse filling defect seen in right femoral vein, popliteal vein

4. Diagnosis: Deep vein thrombosis of the left lower extremity

Summary

1. Both patients had mixed DVT with long segmental involvement. The Fovene™ thrombolytic device was inserted through the tibial vein, and the overall introduction process was smooth, and the performance of the device handling was stable and reliable;

2. Fovene™ thrombolytic device also shows excellent thrombolytic effect on subacute thrombus;

3. Fovene ™ thrombus removal device to remove the embolism process time is short, high efficiency, the length of the product intervention operation does not exceed 30 minutes, the patient's blood loss is low.
